Education
ED1. Graduation with an engineering degree from a post-secondary institution recognized by Engineers Canada, with an acceptable specialization in aerospace, mechanical, civil, chemical, computer, environmental, electrical, petroleum engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the position.
Or
ED2. Eligibility* for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
*Eligibility: the candidate must submit documentation from one of the provincial / territorial professional engineering licensing bodies demonstrating eligibility for registration as a professional engineer at the time of their application.
Experience
EX1. Experience** in planning, designing or implementing projects which supports the control, monitoring, prevention or mitigation of pollution or climate change.
EX2. Experience** in gathering, analyzing, synthetizing and presenting scientific or engineering data and report writing.
**Experience is defined as the depth and breadth normally associated with full-time performance of duties in a work environment for a minimum of 2 (two) years
Asset Qualifications - Experience
AEX1. Experience in any of the following sectors: chemicals or products manufacturing; oil & gas; transportation; waste management; mining, metals or minerals processing; forestry; municipal engineering; wastewater and sewage treatment.
AEX2. Experience working with stakeholders for the purposes of consultation or negotiations.
AEX3. Experience developing or supporting policy to control or prevent GHG emissions, air pollution or the release of chemical substances.
AEX4. Experience working in information technology or database development and Excel.
AEX5. Experience in designing, developing, or administrating regulations or other CEPA instruments, or experience in complying, reporting or interpreting with provincial or federal regulations.
AEX6. Experience providing advice on technical issues.
AEX7. Experience preparing recommendations for management.

AK1. Knowledge of Environment and Climate Change Canada’s vehicle and engine emission, oil and gas, fuels or electricity regulations or proposed regulations.
AK2. Knowledge of Pan-Canadian Framework and initiatives being developed under it.
AK3. Knowledge of Environment and Climate Change Canada's programs and policies related to greenhouse gas or air pollution prevention and control, or chemical substances.
AK4. Knowledge of testing procedures for evaluating engines or vehicles for performance, emissions or safety.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Willingness and ability to work overtime on occasion and possibly on short notice.
Willingness and ability to travel within Canada.
Reliability Status security clearance
