Please be advised this process will be used to staff positions in the new Department of Indigenous Services Canada. The creation of the Department of Indigenous Services Canada is an important development in our renewed relationship with Indigenous peoples. These structural changes will allow our government to work more effectively with Indigenous partners to provide services that improve people’s day-to-day quality of life.

As a result of the potential and possible use of the selection process and subsequent pool , we encourage all employees seeking this type of opportunity to apply.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar temporary or permanent positions, actings, assignments/secondments or deployments in Saskatchewan.
The intent is to staff via the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program, which aims to strategically increase Aboriginal representation within First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. As such, Organizational Needs may be applied and first consideration may be given to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples.

-Significant experience* in managing the delivery of programs or services to First Nation clients.
-Significant experience* developing and maintaining partnerships with Aboriginal communities, groups or organizations.
-Significant experience* providing recommendations to senior management on program delivery or operational issues.
-Experience working effectively with First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
Stream 1 only:
-Significant experience* in coordinating the development of policies, procedures or guidelines
-Experience in the delivery of programs and services to at-risk children and youth
Stream 2 only:
-Experience in strategic, business or operational planning, including human and financial resources allocation
-Experience working with contribution agreements

ORGANIZATIONAL NEED
In alignment with the APEP in support of strategically increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal candidates must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).
OPERATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
All Streams:
-Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice
Stream 1 only:
-Ability and willingness to be on-call during evenings and weekends
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
-Reliability clearance
-Class V driver’s license or the personal mobility associated with a Class V driver’s license.
-Willingness and ability for frequent travel is required. Incumbents may be required to travel by vehicle or small fixed wing aircraft, and occasionally into remote and northern locations.

The term Aboriginal cultural competency includes knowledge of Aboriginal peoples and refers to the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal peoples from different cultural backgrounds, or in settings where several cultures coexist. It includes the ability to communicate and understand the culture, and behaviours of other individuals and groups, and to make appropriate recommendations.
