This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, term or acting basis.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience in the analysis and management of internal and/or external communications issues.
Experience in providing strategic advice on complex issues* to senior management** on policy, program or other stakeholder related initiatives.
Experience in developing briefing material such as briefing notes, presentations, Cabinet documents, reports or any other substantive documentation supporting decision-making.
Experience in handling politically sensitive issues.
Recent*** experience in managing human resources.
Recent*** experience in managing financial resources.
*Complex issues are issues with at least two (2) of the following characteristics: multidimensional, sensitive, confidential, affecting many partners or stakeholders, precedent setting or having a major impact on the public service, or having a potential for significant media coverage.
**Senior management is defined as Director General or equivalent level or higher.
***Recent is defined as to experience gained within the last 5 years.
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or other related field.
Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) with the Canadian Public Relations Society.
Experience in public or media relations.
