The CS-04s will be providing their expertise in different areas of Global Affairs Canada, as GAC is looking for a broad range of different positions to be filled, namely in project management, business analysis, application development, quality assurance, security, business intelligence, etc. The main duties will be to manage and lead different aspects of Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) such as: analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, support, installation, integration, etc., in project and operational environments. As part of their work, the CS-04s will deal with many different stakeholders and will have to be flexible and responsive.
The IM/IT work at GAC can be done in flexible work arrangements that promote good work-life balance, with flexible working hours as well as telework.

1. Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

- Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
- At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
- It is the recognized educational institution (e.g. community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
2. You must have recent* and significant** experience working in IM/IT.
3.1 You must have experience in Asset, People and Financial management; AND/OR
3.2 You must have experience being a technical authority, providing advice to many stakeholders on technical issues about IT related topics such as acquisition, planning, development, integration, implementation, maintenance, testing or other relevant topics.

*”Recent” experience is defined as being within the last five (5) years.
**”Significant” refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of a broad range of related activities which were the candidate’s primary work responsibilities. It will be assessed on the basis of the scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed.
