Successful completion of a 3 year college program in mechanical technology, manufacturing or fabrication technology or an equivalent combinatlon of education, training and/or experience.
Extensive experience* in all areas of a modern machine shop.
Experience in machinery fabrication or mechanical technology services.
Experience working in a scientific, technical or laboratory environment.
Experience troubleshooting, repairing and modifying mechanical equipment.
*For the purposes of this selection process, extensive experience is defined as that normally acquired over a 3-5 year period, covering a range of scientific/technical projects and programs.

Information on language requirements
Knowledge of the principles and practices of manufacturing and fabrication processes and technology.
Knowledge of the equipment, machinery and facilities used in support of materials science.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
Knowledge of machine shop equipment operation.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to plan and organize workloads, including handling conflicting priorities.
Ability to manufacture and fabricate complex technical/scientific equipment.
Ability to read and understand technical documents.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.

Ability to wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to hardhat, CSA certified safety footwear with metatarsal guard, hearing protection, breathing apparatus.
Occasional overtime.
