Duties

Compensation Assistants are responsible for processing compensation transactions, maintaining data and records and determining compensation entitlements for federal government employees.

Intent of the process

The intent is to fill an immediate need for 30 positions in the National Capital region. All term positions will be for a minimum of 1 year with the possibility of extension. Should there be a need, a pool of candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar Indeterminate or Term positions in various locations within the Public Service Pay Centre of Public Services and Procurement Canada.

EDUCATION:
- Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. (An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience is defined as the successful completion of 2 years of secondary school and a minimum of 5 years of experience in administrative or clerical services related to the duties of the position.)

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in providing administrative support services
- Experience in providing client service

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in providing services by telephone in a contact centre environment
- Experience in providing services in writing or by email in a contact centre environment
- Experience using a human resources management system such as PeopleSoft or the Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS)
- Experience using the Phoenix pay system
- Experience processing compensation and benefits in the federal public service
- Experience using the Case Management Tool (CMT)

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• May be required to obtain RCMP enhanced reliability
• Be willing and able to work overtime on short notice
• Be willing and able to travel occasionally
• The normal workday is 7.5 hours and the normal workweek is 37.5 hours. Please note that the hours of operation within the Public Service Pay Centre are from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm Atlantic Time. Management reserves the right to schedule employee hours of work within these operating hours.
