You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in engineering, chemistry or some other specialty related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Minimum two years of experience in the manufacture, regulatory or logistical management, technical analysis, or use of explosives, or similar experience in the chemicals or food processing industry.

-Knowledge of the Explosives Act and Regulations
-Knowledge of the Explosives Regulatory Division
-Knowledge of the fundamental principles of safety, which apply to the manufacturing, handling, storage, transportation and use of energetic materials, e.g. explosives, fuels, oxidizers.

-Ability to plan, organize and perform inspections of explosives precursors facilities
-Ability to conduct technical investigations of industrial accidents and incidents
-Ability to participate in the development of standards and guidelines
-Ability to assess industrial hazards management and mitigation
-Ability to communicate effectively orally
-Ability to communicate effectively in writing

-Effective interpersonal relations
-Dependable
-Good judgement
-Initiative
-Team player
-Thoroughness

The following may be applied / assessed at a later date (may be needed for the job)

-Experience in applying engineering codes and standards related to the design or manufacture or quality control or use or regulation of dangerous goods
-Experience in conducting regulatory compliance inspections on licensees
-Experience in providing regulatory or policy based guidance to stakeholders
