The Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering at Queens
University in Kingston, ON offers cutting-edge geoscience and geoengineering
research programs and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an
high-resolution Scanning Electron microscope with automated mineralogy,
X-ray Diffraction and Clay Mineral Lab, a Computational Geomechanics Lab,

and prolonged drought events. The intensification of drought periods increases
the potential for water shortages with implications for operational disruption,
tailings exposure and dust generation.
In collaboration with the Department of Geological Sciences, Queens
University, the student will work on a project to assess fugitive dust emissions
at mine sites with a particular emphasis on atmospheric sampling method
development and the geochemical/mineralogical characterization of the dust.
The student will be the primary contributor to the research work outputs which
may include technical reports, scientific journal articles and conference
presentations. The position also includes planning, identifying resource needs
for the development and completion of the research activities.
