Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this poster is to fill one (1), English Essential position on an indeterminate basis.

Applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within Health Canada in the National Capital Region. EDUCATION :
College diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in a technical program related to the position, such as: Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE :
Experience in general biological laboratory techniques.
Experience in tissue culture techniques
Experience in microscopy
Experience in operating, verifying/calibrating and maintaining scientific equipment.

KNOWLEDGE :
Knowledge of maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of the methods of conducting laboratory experimentation, testing and evaluation.

Knowledge of safety procedures and Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations for safe handling and disposal of hazardous waste.

EDUCATION :
Certificate in Phlebotomy or equivalent

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES :
Experience in cytogenetics.
Experience in flow cytometry
Experience in molecular biology techniques

KNOWLEDGE :
Knowledge of the effects of ionizing radiation on mammalian cells

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT :
Occasional work outside core hours may be required.
