Intent of the process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff indeterminate (permanent) positions in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in the Department of National Defense.

This pool may be used to staff identical or similar positions within the Department in Montreal, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu et Valcartier

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
- Diploma in vocational studies; and
- Provincial certification linked to any construction or building maintenance trade:
Or
- Military equivalent construction engineer DP2.
Or
- Any acceptable studies, qualifications and or experience in the building maintenance field.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- At least two years of recent experience in the field of building maintenance or construction;
- Experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:
- Have a college degree in the following fields: Building mechanical systems, civil engineering or architecture.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- Recent experience in infrastructure component stock taking;
- Experience in the use of computer managed maintenance software (CMMS).

KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge in building mechanical systems operations and building architectural components;
- Knowledge in the methods and technics of standards, codes, legislation linked to the maintenance of buildings and infrastructures.

ABILITIES:
- Able to interpret plans technical documents linked to the maintenance of buildings and infrastructures;
- Able to formulate technical recommendations on infrastructure components linked to the maintenance of buildings and infrastructures;
- Attention to details;
- Able to communicate effectively in the written and spoken manner.

PERSONAL SUITABILITY:
- Have integrity and respect;
- Have analytical thinking capabilities;
- Able to work with other professionaly;
- Able to show and apply initiatives in support of the section’s goals.

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
Department of National Defence is committed to establishing and maintaining a representative workforce.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Must travel frequently throughout the Real Property detachment’s area of responsibility;
- Must have or be able to get the workplace safety certification for construction sites card (ASP card).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

- Must have a class 5 drivers licence without any major restriction in the province of Quebec that would restrict him from obtaining a DND drivers licence (DND404);
- Applicants must be able to work in elevation as well as in confined spaces.
