The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. DND's role is to provide services and support to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in their operations and missions at home and abroad. As a civilian employee, you will be an essential part of the Defence Team.
A pool of qualified candidates will be establish and may be used to staff current and future GL-MAM-09 position with various tenures. This pool could be used to fill identical or similar positions with various language requirements or security profiles within the Department of National Defense in Halifax area.

Secondary School Diploma.
Level 1 or Operator-in–training Certification recognized by the NS Department of Environment and Labour (NSDEL) in Water or Wastewater Treatment OR CF Trade Qualification Level 5 as a Water Fuel Environment Technician.
Experience:
•Experience in the operation, maintenance, inspection and repair of water or wastewater systems and associated equipment.
•Experience using the Microsoft suite such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
•Experience reading and interpreting drawings.

•American Petroleum Institute (API) Above Ground Storage Tank Inspector Certification Level II Certification recognized by the NSDEL in Water or Wastewater Treatment.
•Experience in confined space entries.
•Experience in HAZMAT Spill Response.
•Experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, inspection and repair of petroleum storage systems.
•Experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, inspection and repair of aquatic recreation facilities/equipment.
Operational requirements:
•Willing and able to work overtime and respond to emergency call-outs after normal working hours.
•Willing and able to work for extended periods of time in adverse weather conditions.
•Willing and able to report to different work sites throughout the Formation.
•Willing and able to stand, climb, walk, lift, bend, pull and push, reach and crouch in hot and cold environments for extended periods of time.
•Willing and able to obtain certification in First Aid (standard certification level).
Reliability Status security clearance
•Possession of Class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license.
•Requirement to obtain Level II certification from NSDEL in water and wastewater treatment.
•Willing and able to travel occasionally.
•Willing and able to obtain and maintain a DND 404 driver’s license.
•Requirement to work in physically demanding environments which may include lifting up to 25 kg, climbing ladders and working from heights, working in confined spaces.
•Requirement to wear and/or utilize PPE equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
•Willing and able to work overtime and be available on stand by during off duty hours.
