Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position
Experience:
• Experience in conducting field work
• Experience in the use of computer databases, spreadsheets, graphical data presentation and word processing
Education:
• Successful completion of required training relevant to the position. Examples include: Small Craft Training (SCT), Small Vessel Operating Permit (SVOP), MED A3, Restricted Radio Operator’s Certificate Maritime (ROC), Marine Basic First Aid, Rigid Hull Inflatable Operation Training (RHIOT).
Experience:
• Experience planning field work
• Experience with fish health assessment programs and techniques
• Experience conducting site inspections or dealing with compliance issues
• Experience with boats, including: operation, launching, trailering, safety, maintenance
• Experience operating navigational equipment (GPS and Radar)
• Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams
• Experience in assessing aquaculture projects
• Experience in operating a remotely operated submersible vehicle (ROV)

Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of salmonid and other important Pacific Region fisheries resources
• Knowledge of the different aquaculture sectors (marine finfish, shellfish, land-based, freshwater)
• Knowledge of potential impacts from aquaculture activities, and mitigation techniques for minimizing those impacts
• Knowledge of tools or methods for monitoring environmental impacts
Abilities and Skills:
• Ability to review and interpret data reports
• Ability to plan and implement an environmental monitoring field program
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to carry out strenuous fieldwork in remote and difficult terrain and challenging weather conditions

• Health Canada medical clearance
• Valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s licence or equivalent
• Willingness to drive trucks and tow trailers
• Willingness to travel, including overnight stays, to remote locations by road, water and air
• Willingness to work overtime on occasion
