Intent of the process

A pool will be established and will be used to staff multiple positions within Shared Services Canada. The pool may also be used for similar positions with different tenures and linguistic profiles.

Education:

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

One year of *Experience working as an IT analyst or similar position in at least one of the following areas. Please identify all areas that apply:

• IT Security Operations
• Network monitoring
• Administration of Anti-Virus
• PKI Administration
• Identity Assurance
• Credentials
• Classified systems
• Access Management

Education:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in computer science, engineering, information technology/management or other disciplines related to the positions duties.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certifications:

• ITIL Certification
• CISA: Certified Information Systems Auditor
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) in one of the specializations under the Security Administration category as issued by SANS
• Completion of courses within the COMSEC Custodian Certification Program (CCCP) under Communications Security Establishment (CSE)

Experience:

AE1 - *Experience in providing coordination and support for Executive-level IT Security governance committees.

AE2 - *Experience applying CSE best practices ITSG-33, ITSG-22 and ITSG-38 in GoC operations.

AE3 - *Experience applying IT Security Directives for the Control of COMSEC Material (ITSD-03/01/06, ITSG-11).

AE4 - *Experience in performing IT Vulnerability Assessments and providing recommendations for remediation.

AE5- *Experience in conducting or contributing to research and analysis of cyber threats in GoC Operations.

AE6 - *Experience in Cyber Security Policy and Standards development and maintenance.

AE7 - *Experience in the management or support of an IT security program involving awareness, policies, standards, procedures, monitoring and risk management.

AE8 - *Experience in the development of plans for and completion of Security Assessment and Authorization processes/Threat and Risk Assessments for GoC systems.

AE9 - *Experience working with Type-1 Cryptography Devices.

AE10 - *Experience in supporting maintenance of security performance measurement and reporting frameworks.

AE11 - *Experience in providing coordination and support of audit and compliance processes for IT Security.

AE12 - *Experience in preparing presentation decks and briefing notes for management level recipients.

AE13 - *Experience in working with GoC IT Security controls/technologies (e.g. Firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS) and current trends in cyber security threats/vulnerabilities.

* Experience is defined as being one (1) year of experience in the last five (5) years.
