Intent of the process

There is an immediate need to staff two (2) indeterminate positions in Petawawa, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tentures.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Occupational Certification:
Must possess a valid Ontario DZ Driver’s License without restrictions or, other provincial equivalent, or military equivalent.

Experience:
• Experience supervising employees.
• Experience in the operation of a variety of heavy equipment; including but not limited to Dump Truck, Front End Loader, Bulldozer.
• Experience performing operator inspections; daily maintenance and log sheets on a variety of heavy equipment.
• Experience in snow removal procedures, equipment and products.

Successful completion of secondary school education

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:
• Military Heavy Equipment Operator Courses
• Certification in one or more of the following:
- Bulldozer
- Dump Truck
- Front-end loader
- Grader
- Snow plough / blower
- Tractor trailer

Operational Requirements:
• Overtime may be required.
• Shift work may be required.
• Call backs may be required.
• Standby may be required.
• Willing and able to work evenings and weekends .
• Willing and able to travel to attend conferences and training as required.
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain a valid departmental driver’s licenses (DND 404).

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

• Able to safely perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 30 kg, climbing ladders, working on uneven/slippery surfaces, and sitting for periods of 4-5 hours on a daily basis.
• Possession of a valid DZ Driver’s License without restrictions from the province of Ontario or other provincial or territorial or military equivalent.

Note: During the process, candidates may be required to provide a current and up-to-date abstract from their provincial transportation authority to show evidence of a satisfactory and safe driving record for the last three years.
