Intent of the process

This inventory will be used to establish pools of qualified candidates to meet future needs at Transport Canada. Pools may be used to staff other similar positions of various tenures and linguistic profiles at Transport Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

A secondary school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License - Aeroplane Category with valid Group 1 Instrument Rating AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical);
OR
Possession of a valid Canadian Commercial Pilot License - Helicopter Category with a valid Group IV Instrument Rating AND possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed Aeronautical).

You must meet at least one of the following flight times:
A- Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in multi-engine aeroplanes, OR,
B- Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in medium or heavy category helicopters, OR,
C- Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours is in single engine turbine powered aircraft, OR,
D- Total of 3,000 hours flight time, which includes 1,500 hours as pilot-in-command that includes multi-engine turbo-jet transport airplanes of a maximum certified take-off gross weight of a minimum of 50,000 pounds.

Minimum of 3 years experience as a pilot at a Canadian Air Operator, Private Operator, Flight Training Unit or in the Canadian Military.

Post-secondary education in an aviation or related program to the position.

Degree equivalency

Holds a Canadian Flight Instructor Rating OR a Canadian Forces Instructor Category.

Holds an ATPL-H

Experience in conducting training lessons and information briefings.

Experience as a training pilot.

Experience as a Class 1 Aerobatics Instructor.

Experience working in a regulatory transportation environment.

Experience in applying legislation or policies for the purpose of decision making.

Experience as an Approved Check Pilot.

Experience as a Pilot Examiner.

Experience in developing policies, procedures, or standards.

Experience using Flight Management Systems.

Experience as a pilot-in-command (PIC) in global operations.

Experience on advanced technology aircraft.

Experience in writing documents, such as investigative reports or court documents.

Experience in conducting interviews of suspects and witnesses.

Experience in conducting investigations.

Experience working with legal issues.

Experience in the planning OR coordination OR management OR execution of the delivery of aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS, or equivalent programs).

Experience in working with risk management concepts and principles.

Experience in Quality Assurance

Experience in managing or supervising a team.

Experience as Chief Flight Instructor.

Experience as Operations Manager in 702, 703, 704, or 705 operations.

Experience as Chief Pilot in 702, 703, 704, or 705 operations.

Experience writing documents such as: company operations manuals, technical bulletins, operational procedures and guidance material, training materials, Power Point presentations and other written correspondence.

Experience with Unmanned Vehicle Systems.

Experience at a Flight Training Unit.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Required to travel to local, national and international destinations.

Required to travel via all modes of transportation to remote and/or isolated locations

Required to work in an aviation environment (i.e. noise, fumes, hazards).

Required to work overtime, irregular hours and weekends.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Must hold a valid Passport for international travel.

Must hold a valid Driver’s license.
