Intent of the process

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of a post-secondary education program in the field of Electronic Technology, Technician or successful completion of Naval Electronics Technical Training Program combined with subsequent successful completion of WENG QL5.

Degree equivalency

A minimum four years’ experience working in an electronics field within the last six years, which would normally involve the following tasks: installing, diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, calibration, setting-to-work and testing of electronic equipment.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in communications, radio frequency, radar systems, sonar systems and/or control systems electronics.
Experience working with ISO standards.
Experience as JOSHE or Safety committee member.
Experience reading electronic schematics.
Experience mentoring.

Required to work in confined space, at heights (i.e. ship masts), prolonged periods in adverse weather and climate conditions.
Required to work on ships, and submarines for shift work and overtime, sail with ship for testing and travel for repair parties or training.
Required to work in dirty, noisy environment, wear all protective equipment (some fit tested), to lift and move heavy awkward shaped materials and equipment.

Testing and interviews will take place in Halifax, NS. Candidates will be responsible for all travel costs associated with this process.
