Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff indeterminate, seasonal GL-MDO-06 positions. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, term, deployment, assignment, secondment, acting, or casual basis.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

- Valid Class 1E driver’s licence issued by the Province of New Brunswick or the equivalent in another province.

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience in the operation of a dump truck.
- Experience in the operation of a front-end loader.
- Experience in the operation of a grader.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE:

- Knowledge of air brake systems.

ABILITY:

- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to perform inspection and maintenance on vehicle to include replacement of cutting edges, cleaning equipment, movement of parts and other physically demanding periodic work.
- Ability to operate a dump truck, front-end loader and grader.

PERSONAL SUITABILITY:

- Effective interpersonal relationships
- Attention to detail
- Judgment
- Reliability
- Motivation

EDUCATION:

- Secondary school diploma.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

- Experience in operating a backhoe.
- Experience in operating a bulldozer.
- Experience in operating an excavator.
- Experience in operating a tractor trailer.
- Experience in operating equipment for snow and ice removal.

KNOWLEDGE:

- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures in relation to operations and maintenance.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

- Possession of a valid Class 1E driver’s licence issued by the Province of New Brunswick or the equivalent in another province.
- Provincial Air Brake certification.
- Must be able to obtain and retain a DND 404.
- Must provide a valid driver’s medical.
- Must provide a driver’s abstract.
- Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to work shift work as required.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.
- Must be able to work on callbacks.
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
