Coordinate planned activities related to the management of commercial, scientific, recreational and Aboriginal fisheries.
Provide advice and recommendations to senior management on a variety of issues related to fisheries management.
Coordinate and participate in various meetings with internal and external clients; tasks could include taking minutes, preparing agendas, and preparing materials and equipment for the effective delivery of the meetings.
Review and provide input to the development of various documents including policies, guidelines, Integrated Fisheries Management Plans, Conservation Harvesting Plans, Variation Orders, conditions of license and agreements.
Deal with diverse requests from internal and external clients including other government departments, fishing industry, Indigenous groups, other stakeholders and the public.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) leads the management of Canada’s fisheries and the safeguarding of Canadian waters. The intent of this advertised process is to establish a pool of partially-qualified candidates to staff positions in Winnipeg (MB), St. John’s (NL), Vancouver (BC), Quebec (QC), Moncton (NB), Dartmouth (NS) and Ottawa (ON). This pool may also be used to staff identical or similar and/or lower level positions across Canada for various tenures, various language requirements and various security requirements which may vary according to the position being staffed.
