There is an immediate need to staff three (3) indeterminate position in Borden, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tenures for the locations indicated on the advertisement.

Occupational Certification:
Possession of one of the following trade licenses recognized by the Ontario Colleges of Trade, certificate of qualification or completion of *acceptable training in one of the following areas based on the position to be staffed:
• 403A - General Carpenter Licence
• 401A - Brick and Stone Mason
• 309A – Electrician – Construction and Maintenance
• Electrical Generating Systems Technician
• Diesel Mechanic
• Electrical Generating Systems Technician Qualification Level 5
*The acceptable alternative may include Interprovincial Red Seal certificate or departmental certificate (DND QL5).

Information on language requirements
Experience:
Applicable to all positions
*Recent and **significant experience in the field related to the trades license held.
Applicable to Electrical Generating System Technician positions ONLY:
Recent* and significant** experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical generating systems ranging from 2kW to 500kW including diesel engines, electrical control boards and ancillary components.
Recent* is defined as experience gained within the last (5) years.
Significant** is defined as having a minimum of two (2) years’ experience.
Abilities:

Occupational Certification/Training:
• Working at heights certification
• Fork Lift license
• Possession of Petroleum Equipment Mechanic (PM3) certification in the Province of Ontario.

Experience:
Experience working on Uninterruptable Power Supplies of 1KW and higher.
Experience and/or training working on airfield lighting.
Experience and/or training working on Warren Truss Inspection and/or repair.
Operational Requirements:
• Must be willing to wear and/or utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety regulations.
• Willingness to work at heights.
• Must be willing to be on a standby list and carry a cell phone.
• Must be willing to work overtime.
• Must be willing to work at sites off base.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the Departmental driver’s license (DND 404).
• May be on a call-in list and asked to respond after hours within one hour of being called in by the fire hall.
• Must be willing and able to work independently during normal working hours and when on call.
• The position may be required to stand, climb, walk, lift, bend, pull, push, grasp, reach, stoop, crouch, sit, read, write, determine color, speak and listen for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work on a fully operational airfield.
Reliability Status security clearance
Other conditions of employment:
-Possession of a valid class “G” driver’s license without restriction issued by the Province of Ontario or provincial or territorial equivalent.
-Must be willing to wear and/or utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety regulations or policies.
For some positions:
-Registration as a journeyperson candidate or certification as a journeyperson in the trade related to the position being staffed. This is mandatory for regulated trades.
-Must maintain a valid trade's license or Red Seal certification or certification of qualification throughout their employment with the Department.

9. Candidates must meet all of the essential qualifications noted in the Statement of Merit Criteria to be appointed to a position.
