The TSB was created as an independent agency due to the importance of impartiality in the conduct of investigations. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is an independent arm's length agency that reports to Parliament through the President of the Queen's Privy Council. The organization aspires to be a modern world-class organization that evolves and adapts as it strives to influence changes that advance transportation safety. The TSB enjoys a strong and credible reputation in Canada and around the world.
The TSB is a small organization with approximately 220 employees and 5 Board Members. The organization operates in a decentralized manner through 10 locations across Canada. Employees work in a collegial and collaborative environment.
This process is designed to fill one position in Dorval (Quebec) on an indeterminate basis with a bilingual imperative language profile of BBB/BBB.
A pool of partially assessed candidates will be created. This pool might be used to fill similar positions in different regions with various tenures, language profiles and/or requirements and security requirements.

Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
A valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Licence (Category M1 or Category M2).
Experience in the servicing, maintenance, and operation of piston and turbine powered helicopter or fixed-wings aircraft.
Experience in supervising the work of employees in the field of aviation.
Experience in writing documents, manuals or reports.
Experience in the use of computers and general office software such as Word processing, Excel and Outlook.
Possession of other aviation licenses (e.g. an air traffic controller or pilot’s licence).
Experience in aviation accident investigation or aviation safety programs.
Flying experience as a pilot.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
Information on language requirements
Knowledge of the Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board Act.
Knowledge of the Aeronautics Act, the Canadian Aviation Regulations and the Aeronautical Information Manual (TP1437E).
Knowledge of the civil air transportation system and the industry.
Knowledge of helicopters and fixed- wings aerodynamics including their operating characteristics.
Knowledge of current trends in aviation safety, such as Safety Management System, Risk management and Human factors.
Ability to prioritize work assignments to meet objectives.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Ability to manage a team.
Ability to analyze facts, make findings, and write a report.

Possess a valid driver’s license in Canada.
Agree to deploy to accident sites where there may be exposure to disagreeable and difficult working conditions and to extreme climatic conditions.
Agree to respond and travel on short notice during and after normal working hours and on statutory holidays.
Agree to travel within Canada and abroad, including travel by car, rail, ship and air.
Willingness to be available on standby, on a rotational basis.
Willingness to undergo TSB required training.
