Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff four (4) positions on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and an RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance

A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
- *Recent and **significant experience developing Java applications in a ***structured development environment.
- *Recent and **significant experience in application development using a J2EE Web application server and framework, such as; Spring or JSF.
- *Recent experience utilizing one or more of the scalable database products: Oracle, DB2 or SQL Server.

Definitions:
* Recent is defined as experience acquired within the last four (4) years.
** Significant experience is defined as the depth, breadth and complexity of the experience associated with full-time performance of duties for a period of two (2) years.
*** A structured development environment is defined as developing software using a defined processes to ensure quality which includes but not limited to defined coding standards, automated build tools, integrated development environment as well as defined unit and integration testing processes.

Graduation with a degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate) from a post-secondary institution in a computer science, information technology or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

- Knowledge of Java application software design concepts and techniques.
- Knowledge of J2EE should this be J2EE or Java software programming principles and coding standards.

Conditions of employment

The successful applicant will have to obtain and maintain a RCMP Security Clearance. This process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of criminal activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
