Duties

The member is responsible for:
a. Processing crime scene fingerprints for searches against the national database.
b. Providing information to national and international law enforcement agencies.
c. Verifying all applicable electronic fingerprint submissions for searching and adding to the national database.
d. Training and mentoring new employees.

Education:
High School Diploma. Post secondary education related to the forensic discipline would be an asset.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
One or more years of experience working in a police environment as an examiner in fingerprint verification and identification.

Special Requirements:
1. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work alone or in a team environment.
2. Demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is responsible for the security clearance process.

Other Conditions of Employment:
The candidate must write on his/her application that he/she is willing and able to work statutory holidays and one call as required.

Occupational training:
As a condition of employment, the candidate will be required to successfully complete the following requirements:

1. Successful completion of the RCMP Fingerprint Physical Comparison Test.
2. Successful completion of the Fingerprint Technician Course (BM4510).

An exam may be administered.

Candidates must obtain the required pass mark for each qualification in order to be given further consideration in the selection process.

Separate instructions will be sent only to those who make it to the interview stage.
