Intent of the process

The immediate need is for 3 permanent positions. A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a temporary or permanent basis, on a casual basis, at full or part time hours) throughout Prince George, BC and Terrace, BC.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.

Degree equivalency

Recent experience in performing clerical duties (such as assisting or advising the general public, filing, processing mail, reception, etc.).
Experience in using word processing software such as Microsoft Word.
Experience in using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel.
Experience in managing hard copy files. *"Managing" files involves opening files; sorting, tracking and updating information in files; and concluding files.
Recent experience in providing administrative support in a policing environment.
Experience with police database PRIME.
Experience transcribing in English from audio or digital recordings.

Recent experience* means experience obtained within approximately the last 2 years.

Preference may be given to RCMP employees impacted/affected by work force adjustment.

Other information

Candidates from outside the public service will be responsible for all travel costs associated with this selection process.

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Reliability Status. In some cases/positions, a Top Secret Security Clearance may also be required. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

You MUST clearly demonstrate in writing how you meet the Essential Education, and Experience requirements. Provide examples and describe the work/duties you have performed. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.

If you do not fully complete the screening questions as instructed, you may be screened out. It is not acceptable to put “see resume” in the space provided to answer the questions.

Any or all of the asset qualifications, and organizational needs may be used for the screening of applications. If you meet these criteria, please clearly demonstrate how you meet them in writing. Provide examples and describe the work/duties you have performed. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications, and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing. Candidates may be contacted and assessed against these criteria at any time during this process.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Practical and/or standardized tests may be administered for screening and/or assessment purposes.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.
