WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: OVERSEEING CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS BY:
- Attending concept briefings on new aeronautical products
- Supporting the approval of applicant means of compliance
- Working with industry engineers throughout the development cycle
- Preparing for and attending certification audits and technical reviews in Canada and abroad
- Coordinating with all areas of expertise involved in the certification of aeronautical products
- Interacting with foreign certification authorities
- Validating foreign aeronautical products
The results of this process will initially be used to staff one (1) position indeterminately. A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, determinate or acting basis, with various linguistic profiles (English essential, BBB) within Transport Canada in the National Capital Region.

Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position
OR
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

Experience
EX1: Significant*experience in the design, development, testing, or certification of engines** or powerplants installations on rotorcraft or powerplants installations on fixed wing** aircraft.
*Significant is defined as having 5 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry
** Must be related to AWM 533 (turbine engines) or AWM523 or AWM 525.
Experience
AEX1: Experience in the design, development, testing, or certification of propellers.
EX2: Experience in the design, development, testing, or certification of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs).
Experience in the application of environmental standards (International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) annex 16, volume I and volume II or equivalent standards).

Secret security clearance - Various Requirements - Reliability and Secret security clearance. Most positions require a Secret security clearance. This factor is not used at the preselection stage. The hiring department is responsible for the security clearance process.
A written examination, an interview and a reference check will be part of the candidates' assessment.
