Duties

The incumbent of this position may be required to perform the following duties once appointed to the position:

* Reviews and develops detailed architectural designs, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and CADD sketches for specific projects to be used for project tendering and implementation purposes.
* Manages project teams in a multi-discipline design section while participating as a team member subject matter expert for architectural engineering technology.
* Inspects and evaluates work sites, buildings, facilities, equipment and related systems to recommend, advise or consult with various users and departments on corrective actions, strategies or solutions to meet operational requirements.
* Provides direction and professional advice to construction management and maintenance personnel including troubleshooting expertise and advice on maintenance issues, the resolution of site and contract changes, negotiation of inspection and contracting approaches, hand over of facilities and infrastructure, shop drawing approval and guidance of staff in the resolution of problems.
* Develops procedures and guidelines for maintenance of buildings and infrastructure, equipment, facilities and systems to provide expert advice to senior management, clients, colleagues, consultants, other departments, other organizations and contractors on complex technical systems or facilities.
* Provides input to management for business plans, specifications, and procedures for
improvements to Federal Public Service infrastructure.
* Initiates and manages project contracts (construction, maintenance, consultant) and
documentation as the technical authority.
* Develops cost-benefit analyses for projects, identifies funding requirements for business plan, budgets, monitors and accounts for funds, recommends changes to projects which impact estimates and budgets, accepts work and recommends payment.

There is an immediate need to staff one (1) indeterminate position in North Bay, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions, with varying tentures.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
ED1 - Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma in Engineering Technology with a specialization related to the position being staffed (Architectural), OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

The acceptable combination is a Trades License ticket relevant to the position being staffed and 2 years of experience working in a field relevant to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
All experience must be relevant to the position being staffed. Experience obtained in school may also be considered.
**Recent is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years.

EX1 - **Recent experience in multi-disciplined project management.

EX2 - **Recent experience coordinating work, such as but not limited to multiple stakeholders and projects.

EX3 - **Recent experience managing a financial budget.

EX4 - Experience writing/developing Statements of Work or Scopes of Work.

EX5 - Experience working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

EX6 - Experience in developing drawings and preparing plans, specifications and cost estimates for construction including repairs and upgrades.

Occupational Certification:
AQ1. Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.)

AQ2. Certified Technician (CTech)

Experience:
AQ3. Experience working in a military environment.

AQ5. Experience working with Microsoft Project

AQ6. Experience using AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit.

Knowledge:
AQ4. Knowledge of Public Services and Procurement Canda and Defence Construction Canada.

Operational Requirements:
OR1 - Willingness to work overtime
OR2 - Ability to obtain and maintain a Departmental Driver’s License (DND 404)

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in compliance with safety regulations
- Possession of a valid class G driver’s license issued by the province of Ontario
