Intent of the process

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the FO-02 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual) and profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability Status, Secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree in forestry from a recognized post-secondary institution or graduation with a degree in a related science from a recognized post-secondary institution combined with acceptable experience.

Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams on complex forestry projects or programs
Experience in providing technical forest management advice
Experience in supervising staff or students

Knowledge of legislation and policy governing forest management in British Columbia
Knowledge of the objectives and role of the Canadian Forest Service
Knowledge of the theories and principles of forest management and ecology

Ability to collaborate with others in the development of effective operational projects.
Ability to review and evaluate information, make recommendations and prepare reports.
Ability to effectively communicate orally.

Conditions of employment

· Valid driver’s licence
· Willing and able to do strenuous field work
· Willing and able to work flexible hours and overtime
· Medical clearance in accordance with Treasury Board Occupational Health Evaluation Standards for field work
· Willing and able to drive field vehicles (including trucks and all-terrain vehicles)
