Management may initially contact candidates at the AS-04 group and level or equivalent to fill this position by deployment. Management has the flexibility to conduct a formal or informal assessment of these candidates.

The immediate need is to staff (1) one position on a permanent basis.
A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions at Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) with various linguistic profiles (English essential, French or English Essential, BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC) and/or requirement as well as tenures (indeterminate, deployment, acting, specified period, assignment, secondment) and/or the security clearance (reliability or secret), which may vary according to the position being staffed.

EDUCATION
A graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in linguistic or in translation or some other specialty relevant to the position.
EXPERIENCE
Significant* and recent** experience editing and reviewing a wide range of documents, such as correspondence and briefing notes in both official languages.
Recent** experience translating short documents from English to French and from French to English.
* Significant experience is defined as depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of those duties for a period of approximatively two years.
** Recent is defined as the experience acquired within the last two years approximatively.
Bilingual - Imperative (PPB/PPB)

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of editing and proofreading standards and techniques.
ABILITIES
Ability to review, edit, and proofread correspondence, briefing notes or other documents in both official languages.
Ability to translate short texts.
Ability to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate in writing.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in working in a Ministerial Correspondence Unit or an Executive Correspondence Unit.
Experience liaising with staff in the offices of a Senior Assistant Deputy Minister or Assistant Deputy Minister.
