Duties

The Outbreak Epidemiologist will work as part of the outbreak management team detecting and investigating enteric disease outbreaks.

Intent of the process

Multiple Anticipated - A pool of qualified candidates MAY be established from this process which MAY be used to staff similar positions with various tenures, various linguistic profiles, various locations and various security requirements within Public Health Agency of Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post secondary institution with acceptable specialization in epidemiology, public health or health sciences.

Note: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
1. Experience in applied epidemiology (e.g., conducting or coordinating outbreak investigations, disease surveillance or other applied epidemiological studies).

2. Experience working in a team environment.

3. Experience maintaining collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders.

4. Experience using statistical software such as SAS or STATA.

5. Experience working in a public health or health sciences environment.

1. Knowledge of public health issues related to enteric infections.
2. Knowledge of the Canadian public health system.
3. Knowledge of analytic epidemiologic study design and implementation during outbreak response.

2. Ability to conduct and interpret epidemiologic and statistical analysis.
3. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines.
