Your application will be used to assess the ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Participates in the design, development and implementation of the regional Railway Safety Management Systems (SMS) regulatory compliance program.
Plans, coordinates and leads/participates in the conduct of audits of trans-border, national, inter-regional and regional railways with regard to SMS implementation and maintenance; and recommends compliance and enforcement actions or measures for alleged infractions to the Railway Safety Act.
Performs safety data analysis services (i.e. trend analysis, risk assessment and performance measurement processes) in support of the determination of railway company profiles, regional operational planning, results measurement and program evaluation; and provides pertinent advice and recommendations to the Manager, Safety Systems Overview.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Recent and significant* experience in auditing a management system**;
Recent and significant experience in working in the Canadian Railway industry;
Recent and significant experience in working in a multi-stakeholder environment;
Experience in writing reports.
* “Recent and significant experience” is understood to mean the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of related activities which are normally acquired over a period of (2) years; and the performance of those duties within the Past 5 years.
**Auditing of a management system is defined as documented activity performed to verify, by examination and evaluation of objective evidence, that applicable elements of the system are appropriate and effective and have been developed, documented, and implemented in accordance and in conjunction with specified requirements.
Education:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
Certification or training in systems auditing or quality assurance assessments.
Certification or training as a project manager.
Experience:
Experience in working with railway safety programs or railway projects.
Experience working with safety management systems, Quality Management Systems or in an ISO environment
Experience in conducting business planning, corporate reporting or performance measurement;
Experience in conducting audits, inspections, investigations or quality assurance assessments;
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the Safety Management Systems Regulation (2015), principles and practices.
