Duties

The conduct and coordination of analytical laboratory activities that may include: analysis, method development/validation, data interpretation, quality assurance and/or quality control services for studies of chemicals and other materials for internal/external clients, management and/or stakeholders of Health Canada.

Intent of the process

Initial staffing for 1 temporary position in Burnaby, BC. Applicants should be aware that this selection process may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level, with various linguistic profiles, security requirements, conditions of employment as well as various tenures including: acting, assignment, secondment, deployment, specified period (term) and/or indeterminate, in the Regulatory Operations and Regions Branch, Drugs Analysis Services Lab in British Columbia.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

Recent and significant* experience working in a regulated analytical chemistry lab (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, GMP).

Recent and significant* experience in running and setting up analytical methods for various instruments, including: High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Ultra high pressure chromatography – mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS (tandem mass spectrometry), UPLC-QToF (quadrupole Time-of –Flight mass spectrometry), and/or Gas Chromatography – Mass spectrometry (GC-MS).

* Recent and significant is defined as at least three years of cumulative experience acquired within the last five years.
