- Contributes to the development, verification, validation, and maintenance of training and operations products used in mission control centers, training facilities or on-board space vehicles and/or technical documents concerning space systems, ground infrastructure operations and/or maintenance.
- Participates in personal training activities to achieve and maintain the required proficiency for the assigned duties. Personal training activities can include formal classes, self-study, console tool exercises, mentorship, On-the-Job Training (OJT), and simulations.
- Drafts operational requirements and participates in the engineering development, enhancement, operation, validation, and training activities related to space systems and payloads, as well as operational infrastructures. This includes the verification of compliance to specified requirements.
- Identifies system, software and hardware problems related to space system, payload, ground infrastructure or simulator development, enhancement, operation, verification, validation, and training activities, and recommends solutions.
- Attends and participates in multilateral programmatic and technical meetings and forums, providing operational insight and reporting significant conclusions.
A pool of qualified candidates could be established through this process to staff identical or similar, temporary or permanent positions, with various linguistic and security requirements, within the Space Exploration General Directorate.

EDUCATION (ESSENTIAL)

A bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position such as, but not limited to: Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems and Software.
OR
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCES (ESSENTIAL)
- Two (2) years of relevant experience* within the last five (5) years in evaluating, analyzing and solving engineering problems and in making recommendations.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience* within the last five (5) years in at least two of the following: design, development, integration, testing, maintenance/upgrade of hardware and software systems.
- Two (2) years of relevant experience* within the last five (5) years in coding software applications.
*Relevant experience is defined as experience with some, but not necessarily all, of the following:
- system engineering in the aerospace, computer, electrical, mechanical , system or software engineering domains,
- network architecture or network elements,
- configured, secure, highly reliable operational systems or simulation systems,
- flight control rooms, operations engineering centers or equivalent.
EXPERIENCES (ASSETS)
- Approximately one (1) year of relevant experience within the last five (5) years in applying the engineering methodology.
- Approximately one (1) year of relevant experience within the last five (5) years in a space engineering discipline such as but not limited to: system engineering, design, safety and mission assurance, production, project management.
- Approximately one (1) year of relevant experience within the last five (5) years in monitoring and verifying submitted work by contractors.
- Approximately one (1) year of relevant experience within the last five (5) years in the design, development, integration, testing, operation or maintenance/upgrade of real time simulation hardware and software systems.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Be able to obtain the security clearance to work at other facilities in and outside Canada, as the NASA security clearance.
- Willingness to travel in Canada or abroad several times per year for short durations.
- Willingness to work overtime upon request and sometimes under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work shifts occasionally (e.g. during periods of Integration and Test).
