You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. EDUCATION
Possession of a valid certification of qualification as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic as issued by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, or similar license issued from another province with inter-provincial certification.
Certification as a Gas Technician 2 (G2) issued and/or recognized by the Technical Standards Safety Authority (TSSA).
Successful completion of an approved apprenticeship in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning field.
EXPERIENCE
Significant* and recent** work experience at the journeyman Mechanic or Technician level in a service, maintenance or construction work environment.
*Significant is defined as having the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be acquired over a period of at least five (5) years.
** Recent experience is defined as experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of one or more of the following certifications:
- Additional Trade Licenses
- Additional License Endorsements
- Confined Space Entry
- Fall Arrest
- Aerial Lift Equipment
- Certification as a Gas Technician 1 (G1)

Information on language requirements
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of installation, service and repair of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment and Natural Gas and Propane heating systems.
Knowledge of related systems, such as: air and water distribution.
Knowledge of Heating and Air Conditioning preventative maintenance practices.
ABILITIES:
Ability to plan and direct the work of contractors.
Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose Heating and Air Conditioning Systems.
Ability to read, interpret and diagnose Electrical Schematic Diagrams as part of Heating and Air Conditioning units.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
Ability to interpret and apply the Canadian Building Code and relevant provincial building and installation codes.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness and ability to work weekends.

Secret security clearance
Must possess a valid driver licence issued by a province of Canada.
Willingness and ability to lift heavy objects (20 kg), for example car batteries, during field work.
Willingness and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools in the assembly of mechanical and electronic systems and sub systems.
Willingness and ability to work at heights such as elevated platforms, rooftops and ladders.
Requirement to wear personal protective equipment.

A written exam may be administered.

Reference checks will be conducted.
