Work environment

The student will work on a study with aim to determine genetic and epigenetic factors of resistance to bovine paratuberculosis using an integrative genomic approach at the Sherbrooke Research and Development Centre (AAFC) in Sherbrooke.
Role: Identify genes and markers that play a role in the genetic control of resistance / susceptibility to bovine paratuberculosis in dairy cattle and write reports and scientific manuscripts. To accomplish this, large scale next generation sequencing (RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq and WGBSeq) of tissue samples will be conducted followed by integrative bioinformatics and pathways analysis.

PhD degree in genetics, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioinformatics or a related field

Currently enrolled or eligible to enrolled in a recognised post-secondary institution in a post-PHD program

Degree equivalency

Experience in the bioinformatics analysis of next-generation sequence data
Experience in conducting integrative omics analyses
Experience working on comparative analysis of genomes
Experience in using genome browsers like the UCSC Genome Browser
Experience in the use of bioinformatics tools
Experience in writing scientific manuscripts
Experience working with DNA manipulation and purification
