Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to establish a pool of qualified candidates inclusive of Public Service (PS) employees and Civilian Members (CM); for various positions with various tenures, various security profiles and various language requirements.

Should a CM be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member. Notification regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Should a PS be found qualified and selected for appointment, notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in preparing technical correspondence and reports.
Experience in reading and interpreting architectural drawings (e.g. site and floor layouts), to ensure they are compliant with requirements, and in completing site visits.
Experience in records management including file management, gathering information and inputting information into electronic systems
Recent* experience in providing technical advice and guidance to clients
Recent* experience analyzing complex information and making recommendations to management
Recent* and significant** experience in effectively managing extensive workloads.

*"Recent" experience is defined as performance of duties within the past 2 years

**"Significant" experience refers to the depth & breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties on a continuous basis over a period of approximately 2years.

A diploma from a recognized Canadian Institute in Security Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Mechanical Engineering or another specialty relevant to the position.

CPP, PSP or other recognized security accreditation

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience working as a Physical Security representative on medium to large scale capital projects, such as new office construction or renovation.
Experience in interpreting, security related policies, legislation, and standards, and applying them in a federal government or law enforcement capacity.
Experience in preparing designs in support of office accommodation or real property construction projects;
Experience in the establishment of organization-wide physical security systems.
Experience conducting Threat & Risk Assessments.

Willingness to travel within the Pacific Region (up to 60% of the time)
Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and overtime, on short notice as required.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - The successful candidate will have to obtain an RCMP Top Secret Clearance. The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

Must maintain a valid class 5 driver’s licence and be able to operate a department motor vehicle.
Must be willing and able to travel by all modes of transportation, including small and large aircraft, small and large marine vessels, trains, and motor vehicles, as required.

Other information

The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Reliability Status. In some cases/positions, a Top Secret Security Clearance may also be required. The process also requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of Criminal Activities, credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.

You MUST clearly demonstrate in writing how you meet the Essential Education, and Experience requirements. Provide examples and describe the work/duties you have performed. Failure to do so may result in your application not being considered further during the screening process.

Any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be used for the screening of applications. If you meet these criteria, please clearly demonstrate how you meet them in writing.

If you do not fully complete the screening questions as instructed, you may be screened out. It is not acceptable to put "see resume" in the space provided to answer the questions.

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing. Candidates may be contacted and assessed against these criteria at any time during this process.

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs.

However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

assessment purposes.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.
