Please note Fraser And Interior Area Stock Assessment is retiring all existing BI-02 pools effective December 31, 2017. If you are currently a qualified applicant in any Fraser Stock Assessment BI-02 Pool, and you wish to be considered for any future employment opportunities with Fraser Stock Assessment (StA) at this level, you will need to re-apply on this process.
The resulting pool will be used to staff Biologist positions within the Fraser Interior Stock Assessment Program at full or part time hours on a Casual, Term or Indeterminate basis. It may also be used for similar positions within Fisheries and Oceans in the Pacific Region.

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in the fields of biology, resource management, fisheries statistics, quantitative ecology or other relevant area.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in conducting quantitative analyses related to fish population dynamics or quantitative fish stock assessment.
• Experience in study design methods.
• Experience in advanced statistical analysis.
• Experience working on the biology or ecology of fish populations or fisheries
EDUCATION:
• A graduate degree in the fields of biology, resource management, fisheries statistics, quantitative ecology or other relevant area.
EXPERIENCE:
• Significant* experience in conducting quantitative stock assessments of anadromous salmonids.
• Significant* experience in quantitative analysis of biological data using computer software to analyze and report results.
• Experience preparing and publishing peer reviewed literature, technical reports, and presentations.
• Experience in modelling of biological populations.
• Experience in working with public and private groups, First Nations, and other government agencies.
• Experience in data management.
• Experience in database design.
• Experience with Bayesian statistics and relevant software such as WinBugs, JAGS or STAN.
* ‘Significant experience’ is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed the full range of activities related to the individual asset qualification.

Reliability Status security clearance
• A valid BC Class 5 driver's licence.
