Duties

To keep pace with growing and increasingly complex demands, the Deposit Taking Supervision Sector (DTSS) is seeking highly motivated leaders with a broad industry perspective to participate in the supervision, analysis and assessment of the financial condition, risk profile and risk management practices of Canada’s financial institutions. The Manager is accountable for leading supervisory reviews, monitoring, and other supervisory related activities. The position also requires providing guidance and training to senior supervisors.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
● A university degree; specializing in business, commerce, economics, accounting, mathematics, or another relevant field OR a combination of education, experience and training.

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
● Recent and significant experience in the financial services sector* in one or more of the following key areas: Risk Management, Internal Audit, External Audit including demonstrated experience related to one or more of (Credit, Market, or Operational risk); or other relevant financial services experience or recent and significant experience in the financial services sector* including critiquing risk management practices and assessing one or more of the key risk areas noted above.

* Financial services sector experience is defined as experience working in a financial institution, including banks, trust and loan companies, wealth management firms, and accounting firms (dealing with financial services audits), as well as government departments that directly deal with the supervision and regulation of these institutions.

One or more of the following asset experience:
● Experience in leading/managing teams of people.
● Experience in relationship management.
● Recent and significant experience in the Canadian financial services sector in one or more of the following key areas: Risk Management, Internal Audit, External Audit including demonstrated experience related to one or more of (Credit, Market, or Operational risk), Line Management, Finance, Business Operations or Middle Office.
● Recent and significant prudential supervision experience in the Canadian financial services sector involving one or more of the key areas noted above.
● Experience in financial/strategic/credit/operational/market risk analysis and assessment.
● Experience in project management.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE
● An understanding of OSFI’s role in the supervision of the Canadian Financial System and OSFI’s Supervisory Framework.
● Knowledge of the current and emerging trends and associated risks in the financial services industry.
● Knowledge of the performance indicators in the financial services industry and the information and techniques used in their measurement and management.
