WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: OVERSEEING CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS BY:
- Attending concept briefings on new aeronautical products
- Supporting the approval of applicant means of compliance
- Working with industry engineers throughout the development cycle
- Preparing for and attending certification audits and technical reviews in Canada and abroad
- Coordinating with all areas of expertise involved in the certification of aeronautical products
- Interacting with foreign certification authorities
- Validating foreign aeronautical products
The results of this process will initially be used to staff one (1) position indeterminately. A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, assignment, secondment or acting basis within Transport Canada in the National Capital Region.

Education
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
OR
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position
Experience
EX1: Significant* experience in the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of aeronautical products.
*Significant is defined as having 3 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aerospace industry.
EX2: Three or more years of experience in evaluating airborne software or airborne electronic hardware processes for conformance to RTCA DO-178B or RTCA DO-254
EX3: Five (5) or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering applicable to the design, development and verification of safety critical computer software or safety critical electronic hardware
Experience
AEX1: Experience in performing aircraft System Safety Assessment.
