This process is anticipatory. A pool of qualified candidates will be established to staff similar positions at the Competition Bureau with various tenures (indeterminate or term positions) and various linguistic profiles and requirements (Bilingual Imperative: BBB/BBB or French or English essential).

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a common law or civil law program offered by a recognized university that is approved by the bar of one of the provinces or territories of Canada or the Order of Notaries in the province of Quebec as meeting the academic requirements for applying for membership in that bar.
EXPERIENCE:
Within the last three (3) years, a minimum of either:
(i) 10 months’ experience working as an articling student or lawyer in a private law firm or in the public sector; OR
(ii) 12 months’ experience as a law clerk to a judge of a federal or provincial court.
Completed at least one articling rotation or clerkship which included a focus on competition law, corporate law or commercial litigation.
Graduation with a degree in economics, commerce or business administration.
Experience in litigating matters before courts or tribunals.
Experience assessing issues under the Competition Act.

Knowledge of the Competition Act and related jurisprudence, as well as the Competition Bureau’s policies and enforcement guidelines related to Part VIII of the Competition Act.
Knowledge of evidence gathering powers, procedures and techniques.
