Elections Canada, located in Gatineau, Québec, is looking for savvy Communications Advisors to add to its team of dynamic and talented professionals.

The intent of the process is to staff two two-year determinate positions with a possibility of extension. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within Elections Canada with various tenures (varying specified periods or indeterminate) and various bilingual profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in communications, political science, journalism, public relations or other specialty relevant to the position.
Experience:
Recent* experience developing and writing a variety of communications products such as key messages, news releases, speeches,, briefing materials, Web content, brochures, backgrounders, social media messages, or presentations.
Recent* experience providing strategic communications advice to management and clients in support of organizational priorities or initiatives.
Recent* experience in developing and/or implementing communications strategies or plans.
*Recent is defined as having performed the work within the last 5 years.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
Linguistic profiles may vary depending upon the position being staffed. Other profiles include CBC/CBC and CCC/CCC.
Information on language requirements
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the Government of Canada Policy on Communications and Federal Identity.
Knowledge of communications trends and best practices.
Abilities:

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Recent* experience in leading or participating in projects involving many players
Recent* experience in organizing and delivering events such as multi-party stakeholder consultation meetings or other external communications events with senior officials/stakeholders.
Experience in developing communications products for specialized target audiences such as educators, students, Indigenous communities and people with disabilities.
Experience in media monitoring (print, social and broadcast media).
Experience in leading projects, from conception through completion and follow-up.

Abilities:
Ability to manage a program or project.
Reliability Status security clearance
Availability and willingness to work overtime, often on short notice.
Must consent to observe strict political impartiality and neutrality for the duration of employment.
A test may be administered.
An interview may be administered.
Reference checks may be sought.
