A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience in dealing with stakeholder representatives for works related to railway activities.
Experience in managing projects related to railway activities.
Experience in providing technical advice.
Experience in preparing technical reports.
Recent and significant experience* in the interpretation and application of the Canadian Rail Operating Rules and the Work/Rest Rules for Railway Operating Employees.
Recent and significant experience* in the interpretation of Part II of the Canada Labour Code and the On Board Trains Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
Recent and significant experience* in an operational category such as a locomotive engineer, conductor, rail traffic controller or the oversight thereof.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities normally acquired over a period of three (3) years; and the performance of those duties within the last five (5) years.

Designation as company Dangerous Goods Officer (DGO).
Designation as a carman.
Experience in auditing and/or quality control.
Experience in the railway industry with respect to planning, coordinating and administering programs.
Experience in investigative and enforcement techniques and procedures.
Experience in the development and delivery of education and awareness programs.
Experience in business planning including performance measurement and trend analysis.
Experience in risk management and risk assessment.

Willingness and ability to work in adverse environments and weather conditions.
Willingness to work alone in isolated areas.
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid provincial driver's license.
Ability and willingness to travel at short notice for extended periods by all modes of transportation.
