Intent of the process

This is an ANTICIPATORY process.

A pool of qualified candidates may be created as a result of this process for indeterminate and/or full time term positions at Six Nations of the Grand River (Oshweken, Ontario).

The pool could be used to offer acting appointments under exceptional circumstances in order to protect employee's indeterminate status.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

The minimum standard for positions classified as Elementary and Secondary Teaching (ED-EST) is either Education or Occupational Certification.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics or some other specialty relevant to the positions in the classification.

NOTE:
When education is required, candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:

Possession of an acceptable teaching certificate from a province or territory of Canada

EXPERIENCE:

Five years of successful classroom teaching experience in elementary or secondary education

ASSET QUALIFICATION

EDUCATION:

Completion of the Ontario College of Teachers Principal Qualifications Part 1

Eligible to enroll in the Ontario College of Teachers Principal Qualifications Part 2

Teaching qualifications in three divisions (one of which must be intermediate)

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Experience working in administration related to school organizations

Experience in the supervision of staff

Experience in the management of instructional programs.

Experience working with First Nations communities (First Nations School Committees, Parent Councils/Associations).

Experience in teaching Aboriginal children

A variety of assessment tools may be used in the assessment of candidates, such as: *written test, practical test, situational exercise, *oral interview, simulation, presentation, role play, work samples, performance appraisals, *reference checks, and/or *assessment board member personal/direct knowledge of candidates' qualifications. Candidates are expected to make a reasonable effort to make themselves available for assessments as scheduled. Rescheduling will only permitted for accommodation measures or for other exceptional/extenuating circumstances, to be determined on a case-by-case basis.
