You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of secondary school or employer approved alternative.

The employer-approved alternative is as follows:

An acceptable combination of education, trade related training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Four years working in the Sailmaker or Liferaft Repair trade. The experience must be to a level normally associated with Journeyperson proficiency. (cumulative experience must be equal to four years)

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of Sailmaking trade or Liferaft repair trade

Ability to operate an industrial sewing and cutting machines.

Ability to understand and apply direction for specifications, drawings, sketches and blue prints.

Ability to develop patterns and manufacture finished textile product.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English

Initiative.

Interpersonal relationships.

Dependability.

Effective interpersonal skills.

Flexibility.

Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces.

Asset Qualifications

Formalized sailmaking training or certification.

Degree equivalency

Experience in shipyard sailmaking.

Experience in liferaft maintenance and repair.

Experience in certification of lifesaving equipment.

Experience in upholstery.

Experience in wet suit manufacture and repair.

Experience in dry suit repair.

Experience in inflatable boat repair.

Knowledge of sewing methods.

Ability to use heating sealing and gluing equipment.

Ability to use fabric welding machines.

Operational Requirements

Required to climb vertical ladders and work at heights (approximately 46 meters).

Required to wear all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Willingness to work shifts and overtime.

Security: Various (including Reliability, Secret).
