A pool of partially qualified candidates will be created and could be used to make acting, determinate or indeterminate appointments with various linguistic profiles at the EX-01 group and level for Director, Hydrography positions, or similar, within Fisheries and Oceans Canada or the Public Service of Canada.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in a field relevant to the mandate of the position OR valid certification as Canada Lands Surveyors
EXPERIENCE:
Significant* experience working in hydrography or in a scientific or technical domain in a related field
Significant* experience as a senior manager in project or program management in relation to international and/or national and/or regional objectives, client’s needs and operational requirements
Significant* experience in framing, negotiating, establishing and maintaining strategies and specific partnerships and in collaborating with stakeholders such as communities, indigenous groups, public sector and the private sector in the marine sector
Significant* experience in managing substantial human and financial resources
Note:
* Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities which are normally acquired over a period of two (2) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
University Degree with a specialization in sciences: geomatics, geodesy, physical sciences or in engineering
Post Graduate Degree such as: an MBA and/or MSc and/or PhD in marine science or related to Ocean Mapping and/or Hydrography
Professional valid Accreditation as Canada Lands Surveyor or Hydrographers from the Association of Canada Lands Surveyors
EXPERIENCE:
Significant* experience working with various organizations (companies, Departments or Agencies) and/or environment (surveys, processing, research) and/or geographic areas (different locations in Canada or in the world)
Experience working and collaborating with international (IHO, IMO,…) and/or intergovernmental (IOC, UNESCO,…) organizations
Experience in managing projects in a decentralized organization
Various language requirements

KNOWLEDGE:
Significant knowledge of the priorities of the Government of Canada, of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Ecosystems, Oceans Sciences & Oceans Protection Plan Sector and more specifically how they relate to the Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS) International and National context
Knowledge of recent technological developments in the marine science, data management and program management fields related to hydrography, ocean mapping and marine cartography
Knowledge of current and emerging trends and challenges in hydrography and how these might affect Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Ecosystems and Oceans Sciences & Oceans Protection Plan Sector
