Intent of the process

This inventory is for casual employment which is a temporary employment of 90 working days or less, in a calendar year.

Information you must provide

Your résumé.

A covering letter in 5,000 words (maximum)

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. Some essential and other qualifications will be assessed through your application. It is your responsibility to provide appropriate examples that illustrate how you meet each qualification. Failing to do so could result in your application being rejected.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

- Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience

Degree equivalency

Experience:

- Recent* experience working in food services within a commercial or institutional setting.
- Experience in short order cooking

* Recent is defined as experience acquired within the last 2 years.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Education:

- Successful completion of a secondary school diploma.
- Professional Culinary Art diploma.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification:

- Possession of a valid recognized Safe Food Handling Program certification.

Experience:

- Experience working with cash register or Point of sale system.
- Experience working in a correctional environment (institutional or community
office).

Knowledge:

- Knowledge of food preparation and service techniques (e.g. portion control, measuring ingredients, operating kitchen equipment etc.)
- Knowledge of preparation and food handling procedures
- Knowledge of workplace safety requirements, hygiene and sanitation practices
- Knowledge of safe lifting and carrying techniques

Abilities:

- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations accurately
- Ability to communicate effectively orally
- Ability to provide training

Personal Suitability:

- Work in a team
- Judgment
- Dependability

You will be required to show how you demonstrate the essential qualifications (i.e. Education, Experience and/or Occupational Certification) for the initial screening through your resume and cover letter.
