Intent of the process

A pool of fully qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada at the PC-02 group and level with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various linguistic requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (i.e. Reliability, Secret, Top Secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, earth sciences, geography, environmental studies or some other science relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience using at least one geographic information system (GIS) professional software package (such as ESRI/ArcGIS).
Experience manipulating, interpreting, processing and/or analyzing spatial data.
Experience conducting spatial economic analysis applied to natural resources sector industries.

Bilingual - Imperative (CCC/CCC)

Information on language requirements

Knowledge of database management systems, geographic information systems and related software.

Ability to apply cartographic techniques to produce maps and charts according to specifications and standards.
Ability to organize, manage and store spatial data and create metadata.
Ability to identify and analyze problems and recommend viable solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Graduation with a Masters degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a science related to the position.

Degree equivalency

Experience in using several computer programming languages such as R, Python or SQL.
Experience in manipulating, interpreting, processing and/or analyzing data related to forestry and forest industries.
Experience in planning, designing, and developing spatial information management systems.

Knowledge of the environmental and economic aspects of forestry and forest industries.

Willing and able to work overtime as required and to adopt flexible work hours as per operational requirements.
