Work environment

The Public Health Agency of Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) provides scientific expertise and laboratory capacity for infectious disease monitoring, detection, investigation and outbreak response to support national and international public health action. Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff one indeterminate position. The result of this selection process will also be to establish a pool of qualified candidates that may be used for future acting, specified period, deployment, assignment, secondment or indeterminate appointments within the Public Health Agency of Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

• Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, public health, sociology, or statistics and an acceptable specialization in epidemiology**
**The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program, but may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in conducting synthesis research, analyses, and writing summary reports or peer-reviewed publications concerning zoonotic or vector-borne disease public health issues.
• Experience in writing project reports.
• Experience preparing and delivering presentations.
• Experience publishing peer-reviewed papers.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
• MSc or PhD degree from a post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, public health, sociology, statistics or epidemiology.

Degree equivalency

• Significant* experience performing systematic or scoping reviews.
*Significant is defined as at least one year.
• Experience with quantitative or qualitative risk assessment.
• Experience with infectious disease modelling.
