The student is expected to be involved in experimental design, sample collection, statistical analyses of results, and preparation of manuscripts.
The selected student will conduct laboratory and field work, at the Prairie & Northern Wildlife Research Centre in Saskatoon and at the Karrak Lake Research Station in Nunavut, to implement a research program to (a) investigate whether contaminants, including mercury and polybrominated diphenyl ethers, are at levels of concern in key species of arctic-nesting shorebirds and (b) identify potential sources of exposure, based on environmental samples and interspecific variation.

The Student must be currently enrolled or able to enroll in a Master's Program in the Department of Biology at the University of Saskatchewan, by 14 May, 2017.
A strong background in biology and courses in Ecological Methods, Wildlife Management, and Conservation Biology.
Please note that experience could have been acquired through your studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
Some prior research experience, such as undergraduate thesis work.

Knowledge of avian biology (shorebird identification, nest-searching, and safe handling of birds).
Ability to conduct work in remote northern field camps (travel in small fixed and rotary wing aircraft and relevant safety training).
