Duties

As an Emergency Preparedness and Response Officer, you will support the Regional Emergency Coordinator. You will be responsible for planning, organising, updating, coordinating and collaborating on the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response. In this context you will analyse and submit plans, programs, manuals, training related to integrated and joint services, that are linked to the Federal Health Portfolio Emergency Preparedness Responses.

Work environment

Our Emergency Preparedness and Response Unit, located at the Guy-Favreau Complex in downtown Montreal, is a small, dynamic team responsible for managing health emergencies. It is the primary focal point for our partners in the region. Our clientele includes federal government organisations, provincial and municipal health sector organizations, non-governmental organizations, and community groups. In periods of increased vigilance, our team relies on flexibility of schedules and must be ready to handle many requests within a short time.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to create a pool of qualified candidates for similar positions with various tenures (temporary, permanent), at the Public Health Agency of Canada, Quebec Region. Should the selected candidate already be a public servant, the pool could also be used for acting appointments.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in health, social or environmental sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Operational work experience in public health emergency or disaster management.
Experience in planning, coordinating and managing projects involving a variety of stakeholders.
Experience in gathering, researching and evaluating information.
