Are you an experienced Dietitian looking for a leadership role? Join Health Canada’s First Nations and Inuit Health Branch as a Regional Nutritionist!
You’ll be leading a team of Dietitians working with Indigenous communities in the development, delivery, and evaluation of nutrition programs. You will foster interdisciplinary partnerships with First Nations, community stakeholders, health professionals and other levels of government. You’ll have an opportunity to travel across Alberta to share your nutrition expertise with diverse populations and cultures in the First Nations communities.
To staff an anticipatory vacancy. A pool will be established to staff similar positions in other geographic locations on both a temporary and permanent basis.

Degree with a specialization in nutrition, dietetics or home economics from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Eligibility for registration as a Registered Dietitian in a province or territory of Canada.
Experience planning, developing, delivering or evaluating nutrition programs
Experience providing guidance and oversight to health care professionals
Experience working in interdisciplinary teams in collaborative practice environments
Master’s Degree in nutrition or a related field (health promotion, population health, adult education or community development) OR current enrolment in a Master’s program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Experience providing nutritional advice to health care workers
Experience providing nutritional advice to the public
Experience working with diverse populations or in a cross-cultural setting (e.g. Indigenous populations)
Experience developing educational resources
Experience establishing and maintaining partnerships with a wide range of partners or stakeholders
Experience in budget management (i.e. management of program funding, expenditures, program allocations or forecasting).
Experience working in a public health setting

ORGANIZATIONAL NEEDS:
In support of strategically increasing Aboriginal representation in areas having the most impact on program delivery and health outcomes of FNIHB’s target population, selection may be limited to candidates self-identifying as belonging to Aboriginal peoples. Aboriginal peoples must use the Affirmation of Aboriginal Affiliation Form (AAAF).
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness and ability to work extended hours when required.
Periodic travel, including to rural and remote locations on gravel roads or small aircraft
Reliability Status security clearance
Registration in good standing on the General Register of the College of Dietitians of Alberta.
Possession of a valid driver’s license
