Internships are located in St-John's, Ottawa/Gatineau, the Greater Toronto Area and Victoria.
Please note that geographic limitations apply. You must reside or be employed in one of the following areas of selection associated with the city for which you are interested in being considered.

Useful Information:
- Please note that to be eligible for the FIN Program, applicants must be successfully screened for employment readiness, by a partnering Immigrant Serving Organization (ISO) no later than April 13, 2017. Please see IRCC's website for more details.
- The Federal Internship for Newcomers (FIN) Program is available for permanent residents or Canadian citizens who have been in Canada for less than 10 years.
- For candidates with post secondary degrees earned outside Canada, assessment of foreign credentials is not a mandatory requirement for participation in the FIN Program but it is highly recommended.

Conditions of employment

- Reliability, Secret or Top Secret depending on the requirement of the position. This factor is not used at the pre-selection stage. The hiring organization is responsible for the security clearance process.

- Please note that even if you qualify to be placed in a pool, there is no guarantee that you will be offered a position. The number and types of positions available in a given Program year are subject to the demand of partnering organizations.

- An email address must be provided. The Selection Board will communicate with candidates by email to provide/request information and to invite candidates to attend any portion of the assessment. Please include a valid email address that you check frequently. Please ensure that your email settings are set appropriately. If your email settings are too restrictive, emails from the FIN team or the hiring department may be detected as spam and automatically deleted.
- You cannot submit your resume with your application. You will be asked to submit your resume at the assessment stage.
- A written exam may be administered in some cases.
- Interviews and tests will be conducted at the location of the employer's choice during June, July and August. If you do not attend assessments at the scheduled date and time, your application might be rejected. Candidates will be given at least 48 hours notice of interview and must be available.
- Tests may be administered during the day and evening.
- During the initial screening process, the Screening Board will be reviewing the applications for education and experience. Invitations for assessment will be based on the depth and/or breadth of education and/or experience that the applicant has indicated.
- References will be sought for candidates who are successful in the process.
- Receipt of applications will not be sent; only candidates successful in the screening process will be contacted.
- You may have to provide proof of your educational credentials.
- You will be asked to provide your proof of permanent residency or Citizenship.
- Please note that travel or relocation expenses will NOT be reimbursed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or any other hiring departments/organizations.
- The Immigrant Serving Organization indicated in your application will be contacted to verify the information you submitted.
- Your application will be shared within IRCC and may be shared with other hiring Federal Government departments, agencies and crown corporations, and other participating public and private sector organizations for potential employment opportunities.
- Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's management may choose one or more Asset Qualifications at the pre-screening stage to determine the number of applicants who will advance to the following stage of the selection process.
- This selection process will be used by various departments and agencies. Please note the positions being advertised for St-John's (NF) are not for IRCC.
